A PRIORI SCAN MINIMUM DETECTABLE CONCENTRATION CALCULATOR

NUREG-1507 Revision 1 (2020) Minimum Detectable Concentrations with Typical Radiation Survey Instruments for Various Contaminants and Field Conditions during a Decommissioning Action presents the standard method for calculating a priori scan minimum detectable concentration (MDC_SCAN) values for contaminated surface soils and structural surfaces. This calculator estimate MDC_SCAN values for a variety of detectors and radiological contaminants.

The method for soils and structural surfaces is quite different, so the user must first select which medium will be surveyed. Once directed to the appropriate page, equations and parameters are described, and the user is allowed to input site-specific, project-specific, detector-specific, and radionuclide-specific information to help ensure the MDC_SCAN values are as accurate and realistic as possible.
